From this point, you will cross an area of xerophyte shrubs to reach a denser ancient forest of pataguas, lingues, and bellotos trees, which grow around the Las Cabras Estuary and will accompany you along your journey. It continues by a “cajón” (a box-like cut-out in the mountain topography) that rises gently as it crosses the sclerophyll forests, which slowly begin to transform into shrubs. The route then eventually reaches the Los Maquis Gate, where the Las Cabras Estuary begins and which is said to hold an ancient secret of the area’s inhabitants. From there the path ascends to the Fineza Pass where it treats us to a view from above the valley and the Las Canchas Ravine. After a rest here, we’ll descend to the entrance to the Altos de Cantillana Reserve. Cost: $ 38,000 pesos /USD76 (tax included) perperson * Discounts by volume, following consultation.
